I recently bought one of these gaskets to replace (what was left of) the original felt gasket on my Big Green Egg. Installation was easy-peasy. The hardest part was trying to clean the rim before the installation (since I had let the old gasket deteriorate so much, there was lots of smoke and burned-on gunk on the rim that I could not remove with a scraper or with acetone. Eventually, I just proceeded with installation after I had cleaned the rim as much as I could.

I have since done several cookings, from low temperature to quite high. There are absolutely no signs of the gasket being affected in any way by the heat.

I think this is a great alternative, and I recommend it highly.

I found that a little sanding with fine sandpaper helped to get my grill clean enough to use the product. After several cooks it is holding well and there are no leaks . Due to the thickness of the material, the top of my grill does sit a little different but it has not caused a problem. I will use this product on my second egg as well.

The Nomex High Heat Gasket we got to replace to original fiber gasket on our BGE is a winner so far. After watching a couple of you tube videos for advice, installation was straight forward and uneventful. We grill 2-5 times a week, and so far it's holding up well, much better than the original gasket. Over time we'll see, and update this review.
